Resurrection Power

Do you need resurrection power?  Have you ever felt that a part of you is trapped under a weight that will not budge?  Have you ever felt that the good thing that you desire is encased in circumstance well beyond your ability to extricate it?  Have you ever felt so pushed down that your creativity struggles to surface?  Tell me, can you identify with what the song writer said, “I wonder, just how it would feel, to be free?”

Do you need resurrection power?  Has your joy been suppressed to the point that being numb is a normative state for you?  Have you ever labored in survival mode or chronic workaholism for so long that your life becomes a state of emergency?  Perhaps you have been living behind a mask so long that you have believed your own illusions of happiness.  Every now and then some of us come to face to face with the shallowness of our own existence and the places we’ve been and stuff we’ve accumulated simply cannot stand as the sum of our life’s existence.

Maybe your reality is not so grave.  Yet there is a nagging part of you that identifies with the feeling of being stuffed down and buried.  Some part of you longs for more full expression.

When we feel like this we need Christ’s resurrection power!  We should remember that our Christ understands “resurrection” in ways beyond our comprehension.  Christ makes resurrection power available to us all.  When asked, and in time, the Spirit will help us to rise to the fullness of our created being.

That same Spirit constantly urges us to lift up the lives, dreams, and creativity of others.  God’s Spirit urges us to release the captives of a poverty that entraps self-fulfillment and joy.  Christ has set us free so that we might exercise resurrection power in its most full expression, that being, the lifting of someone else!!
